As the the days get shorter, dark and earthy colors tend to dominate fall fashion, but you can pretty easily incorporate brightly colored clothes and accessories to keep your autumn wardrobe upbeat and eye-catching.
Don’t throw all your colored pants and skirts to the back of your closet just because summer is over. Tone them down with a leather belt in brown and a neutral colored cardigan. Toss on a pair of opaque black tights to transform brightly colored skirts into fall-ready apparel. Pull on a pair of patterned flats or lace-up booties, and your boldly colored pants and skirts become perfect to wear for fall.
Stay tuned for more ways to incorporate bright colors and summery staples into your fall wardrobe!

I took these photos on a teleworking day late last month. It was dreary and cool and while this yummy chicken noodle soup cooked away in the crock pot, I just wanted to cozy up inside with this sweater and scarf combo.

This is a really old dress. Liiiike 10 years old. At least. The top is a little risque at this point in my life, but I really love the lace pattern, so I found a new way to wear it–layered under a sweater. I love to layer dresses and I do it pretty regularly, particularly when the weather cools down. Just think: you can wear a dress alone, under a sweater or over a button-down. Three outfits from one piece of clothing. Holla!
Come to think of it, I might cut this dress in half and just make it into a skirt.
Dress: Can't remember--old!
I feel like I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect booties for-ev-errrrr. Well, my search finally came to a very satisfying end on Friday when I scooped these up at DSW.
Here are some of my favorite booties from around the web. What do you think? Do you see booties in your fashion future?

I am obsessed with this dress. It goes kind of perfectly with my new pashmina, which I am also obsessed with. I got this dress over the summer from Nordstrom Rack (FOR $20 DOLLARS!!!). I planned to wear it to a friend’s wedding, but it is a little more casual than that particular occasion called for.
However, this is definitely something I would wear to a casual fall wedding.

My colleague gave me these pants. I was really excited to get them because they’re very nice, but when I got them they were flared. I don’t wear a whole lot of flared pants, so I took these in at the bottom and love how they turned out.

This shift dress was one of the first pieces of clothing I purchased when I got my real job and had to transition from dressing like an undergrad student to dressing like an adult. This is by far one of the best purchases I ever made. The dress fits perfectly and the color is neutral so it works with lots of items from my wardrobe.

Thank you to this pin for giving me my outfit inspiration. You probably wouldn’t think patchwork pleather pants are necessarily business casual, but that’s what my blazer is for. In my book, blazers are a magical closet staple that turn basically any outfit work appropriate.
Seeing this outfit photographed, I don’t love the proportions (I wish my blazer was slightly more cropped and my blouse slightly longer), but I like the all-black with a couple pops of color, so that’s why I’m sharing it here.
