I went to Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago to look for shape wear (I’ll tell you why in a future post) and this shirt caught my eye. Black and white, stripes, and floral? All in one? This shirt is so me. At least that’s what my coworker told me. And I agreed.
And in case you’re wondering, yes, my hair is blonder. I got balayage highlights for the second time in 3 months a couple weeks ago. At first, they were pretty subtle and I decided to go all-out this time. I always preferred dark hair and I fought my hair’s natural tendency to be light. After looking at balayage highlights on Pinterest, I finally took the plunge and I love how they turned out. Kind of lived-in, imperfect and easy to maintain.

For the past 3 weeks, my washing machine has been broken and in pieces in my laundry room. Fortunately my parents are awesome and have been letting me bring all my laundry over weekly to do the wash. The downside, as you can imagine, is I do not like doing laundry any more when I have to pack it up and take it across the county than I do when all I have to do is drag it just outside my bedroom door.
I wore this outfit on a day when I left work early to come home and wait for the repairmen to arrive. The smile on my face is directly related to getting my washer back. Holla!

It was over 70°F on the day I took these photos. Downright balmy. I actually did wear tights to work, but I decided to whip them off to take photos. So, sorry for my blindingly pasty legs. I did shave them, so there is that.

I was in Nordstrom Rack hunting for the perfect dress to wear to my friends’ wedding and I came across this one. I loved the print and when I looked at the tag and saw that it was marked down to $3.74 I knew I was buying it. Seriously less than $4 for a dress originally priced at $70! Even if I didn’t fit I probably would have bought it on principle alone. Not really, but I’m really happy it does fit!
These shoes are probably one of my oldest pairs. I got them from Payless in high school (!) and they have really stood the test of time. It always cracks me up because they were super cheap, but every time I wear them I get a TON of compliments.
I absolutely love this dress. I got it from Old Navy over the summer for $10!! It incorporates my favorite color and pattern (black and white stripes) and the long sleeves mean this baby will be a perfect transitional piece. I can already see it with tights and boots and with a blazer thrown over it.

There is nothing more comfortable better than flowy fabrics in the summer. I made this skirt years ago(using this tutorial) out of this stretchy, floral fabric I found at Jo-Ann’s. I made a similar one of my sister, too, though I’m not sure she has it anymore. And if you’re wondering, yes it has pockets.

These have turned in to my favorite pair of cropped pants. I love the color, cut and fit. I was really excited when I found them on Ebay (NWT!) and took a gamble buying them without trying them on. I’m so glad I did. This shirt is also one of my faves and I feel like I wear it all the time (See: here and here and just about every weekend).

You know those days when you get up in the morning and stand in your closet for 10 minutes AKA 1/3 of your allotted “get ready for work” time and still have no idea what to wear? This outfit is pretty much my go-to fashion recipe for those mornings.
Fitted bottom + ruffly/sheer/flowy top = almost always a winner in my book
The belt and locket are just bonus snazziness. Do you have a default outfit when you’re out of inspiration and need to get your butt moving? I’d love to hear it!

Let’s talk about linen. I love linen because it’s comfortable, cool and comes in beautiful colors, like this dress. I hate linen because it wrinkles like it’s going out of style. Seriously. I think my whole summer wardrobe would be linen if it weren’t for the wrinkle-age.
