I purchased this dress last winter along with one that’s exactly the same in a different color. I absolutely love this aubergine color. It’s perfect for fall and I’m excited to wear this dress again and again as the weather cools off.

Remember the last time I wore this skirt? The outfit made me feel like a housewife. I don’t generally think looking like a housewife is a good thing, but I’ve gotta give a nod to this skirt’s versatility. I love that
without one particular necklace with the addition of some darker/jewel-toned pieces, this skirt transforms into something really rocker-esque. Soft rocker, obviously. I mean, it’s ruffly. But still more hardXcore than housewife, amirite?

You may or may not have seen my inspiration for this outfit when I pinned it a couple weeks ago. I was really excited that I had all the pieces to put it together. It is such a fun, colorful and (arguably most importantly) comfy ensemble.
And my shoes. Let’s talk about the greatest flats in the history of flats. These adorable New Balance for Nine West flats are one of my all-time favorite pairs of shoes. I was on the metro several years ago and saw a girl wearing them. The second I got home, I looked them up and ordered my own pair. Sadly, they don’t exist anymore. I have searched high and low and have come up empty-handed again and again. I’ve basically worn these into the ground and about a year ago I thought, “Yeah, I should really get rid of these shoes.” But I couldn’t do it. So I threw them in the trunk of my car so they could be my in-case-I’m-wearing-heels-and-get-a-flat-tire-or-my-car-breaks-down-and-I-need-to-walk-several-miles flats. You have a pair of those, right? Needless to say, I pulled them out, dusted them off and put them on with this outfit because I just felt like they fit with the cool, comfy vibe.

Here it is again; my target dress that looks like it might be a DVF. From far away. I love this dress. The colors are right up my alley, it’s extremely well-made and it’s surprisingly versatile. Plus, the light, stretchy fabric is perfect for hot, humid days. Speaking of, will these ever end? I’ve started to see a lot of bloggers writing about fall fashion finds and I’m definitely looking forward to cooler weather ahead!
It was raining when I took these photos. If you look closely, you can see the drops. I had a really great setup for taking these photos today: my trusty umbrella was balanced precariously atop my tripod. You know, to protect my camera from the rain. Well, as you could have probably guessed, a gust of wind blew by and my camera started to tip. In my heels (granted, they’re not very high, but still not the most athletic of shoes) I raced toward the camera. It was one of those moments when time slows down. Somehow, I made it to the camera in time to save it from certain death.
Note to self: do not attach umbrellas to cheap tripods.

I felt like a housewife in this outfit. I think it was the pearls. Well, faux-pearls. I made this necklace a couple years ago to wear with my wedding dress. Yay for getting additional wears out of wedding jewelry!
