Zig and Zag

1

I made this skirt back when I was really into DIY-ing skirts. This is the first maxi I’ve ever made and it’s very comfy and breezy. I wore this to work a few weeks ago. It’s a little casual for work, but I can barely function when it’s really hot outside, so the fact that I got dressed at all is kind of a miracle.

See ya, wouldn’t wanna be ya

The day I took these photos it was exceptionally hot outside. The humidity was through the roof and to be honest, I was really excited that we had gotten all the way through August with only a handful of really hot days. So at this point, I was a little annoyed at summer for showing up so late to the party. Newsflash, summer: you’re supposed to be gone by now. So leave. You’re not welcome.

In spite of summer’s late appearce, I tried to channel fall with my mustard cardigan today because along with pretty much everyone else in the world, Autumn is my favorite season. I’m so looking forward to cool, dry days.

Stripes FTW

I absolutely love this dress. I got it from Old Navy over the summer for $10!! It incorporates my favorite color and pattern (black and white stripes) and the long sleeves mean this baby will be a perfect transitional piece. I can already see it with tights and boots and with a blazer thrown over it.

Graphic Skirt

I went thrifting with a friend last month and as soon as I saw this skirt, I had to have it. I am completely obsessed with anything black and white recently (check my closet if you don’t believe me) and I could think of several different ways to wear it off the top of my head. Unfortunately, I do have to iron it to keep the pleats looking fresh, but I think it’s worth it.

I am so excited to remix this little beauty.

Yellow & Polka Dots (no bikini)

I got this shirt as a gift for my birthday a few years ago. I always struggle with how to wear it. It has a thick elastic band around the bottom that isn’t always conducive to tucking in, although I think it worked out okay with these pants. This is also one of the few boxy shirts I own. I usually hate them, but the print on this one is just so fun and the silky-smooth finish makes me feel fancy.

Floral and Gray

This skirt is really fun. I was very excited when I found it in a thrift store a few years back. I was looking for a gray a-line when I came across this on the rack. I guess this one would be considered fit and flare are is not something I would typically buy, but it was so close to what I was looking for (and so cheap!), I went ahead and grabbed it.

Cinco de Mayo!

While I usually subscribe to the I hate Mondays school of thought, today is not just any Monday: it’s Cinco de Mayo! And you know what that means: may flowers and Monday night margaritas! Woo!
